Family Friendly

The Department of Oncology actively promotes a friendly and equitable culture that supports a good balance between work and life and is committed to providing a family-friendly working environment. The University of Oxford recognises these demands and offers a range of family-friendly policies and schemes:

Childcare

The University offers a comprehensive range of childcare services at affordable prices and works closely with various professional bodies to continue to enhance its provision.

The University currently runs four nurseries across Oxford and has partnered with a large number of nursery providers who deliver quality childcare for University staff and student parents.

A planning application has been submitted to the City Council to open a fifth nursery on the Old Road Campus.

Requests from full-time workers within the Department of Oncology to work part-time, or from all workers to work flexibly are given careful consideration, particularly those returning from maternity leave.

The Department recognises that teleworking can be a mutually beneficial arrangement. Teleworking may be undertaken by any member of staff with the agreement of the department. Teleworking is voluntary and reversible at the Department's or employee's request; it may be set up on a temporary or ongoing basis.
